CoinSummit San Francisco Adds Marc Andreessen as Keynote Speaker

CoinSummit San Francisco has announced that early software pioneer and acclaimed venture capitalist Marc Andreessen has been named as keynote speaker for the invitation-only event to be held on 25th and 26th March at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

The upcoming two-day conference had earlier confirmed high-profile speakers such as; Nicolas Cary, CEO of Blockchain.info; Jackson Palmer, co-founder of Dogecoin; angel investor Roger Ver; Naval Ravikant, founder of AngelList; and Bobby Lee from BTC China.

Other notable speakers include; David Lee, partner at SVAngel; Nejc Kodric, CEO of Bitstamp; Chris Larsen, CEO of Ripple Labs; Tony Gallippi, CEO of BitPay; and Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase.

In addition to Andreessen, CoinSummit has also revealed new information about its StartUp Showcase, a special event to feature 10 promising digital currency startups, and announced that Georgia-based merchant processor BitPay has been added as a platinum sponsor.

StartUp Showcase

Previously announced as part of the event's day one itinerary, the StartUp Showcase will spotlight 10 Series A startups, each pitching their ideas for five minutes in front of a field of accomplished investors.

Event organiser Gulnar Hasnain said she expects the event will serve as a springboard for the chosen entrepreneurs. In particular, she cited the attention bitcoin ATM provider Lamassu received following its inclusion at her team's last event, Bitcoin London.

"It's an intimate event, so we're focused on quality. So, what they will get is excellent networking opportunities and opportunities to get their business ideas in front of top investors."

Selection panel

More details were also revealed about the selection panel that will chose the startups that will attend the event. The selected angel investors and entrepreneurs include co-organiser Pamir Gelenbe, Ben Davenport, Jimmy Furland, Firat Ileri, Martin Mignot, Jez San, Nick Shalek, Alex Morcos and Santiago Subotovsky.

Interested entrepreneurs have until 17th March to apply, and can submit their projects here.

CoinSummit said all interested applicants will be vetted based on factors such as their achievements, metrics, team strength and size, as well as the attractiveness of their overall investment opportunity.
